About Us
John Healy and Darelle Sinclair established Sinclair Wines in 1994. Darelle is the Managing Partner and John provided the capital to get Sinclair up and running. John eventually hopes to retire from his 'real' job to help run Sinclair. Until that happens he wears the cap of Chief Taster cum Quality Checker..."someone's got to do it!"
Keen to do things right John and Darelle went back to school. This was just as well because at that time there were no consultants around Manjimup. The one that came over from Margaret River must have been a flatlander. He said that even though we had wonderful soil and water our land was too steep and we should sell it!
Darelle graduated as a viticulturist from Charles Sturt University and has the unique Master of Wine Business coordinated by Steve Charters MW at Edith Cowan University. John's Diploma of Wine Marketing was begun at famous Roseworthy Agricultural College that later became part of the University of Adelaide.
Since then Sinclair has become very much a family enterprise with even Stumpy the family dog being part of the Marketing action.
Darelle is also responsible for marketing and distribution. We have agents in other Australian states and our wine has been sold to Canada (Calgary, Ontario and Quebec), The UK (England and Scotland), Japan, The Netherlands and Singapore.
Our Logo
The tiger on the label symbolises the legendary thylacine which some believe still survives in the deep forests of South Western Australia.
Ethos
Sinclair is tiny but aims to be a giant in quality. The vision is to produce outstanding, classic styled wines that reflect the purity and the individual characteristics of our vineyard terroir.
